How to Choose?

I've been getting more and more questions about whether or not different essential oil companies are "good" or not. This tells me that people are becoming more and more aware that perhaps not everyone selling essential oils has the customer's best interests at heart (i.e. the health of their loved ones).

Adulteration of essential oils has been around for awhile, but in the past ten years or so, adulteration has literally exploded.

Did you know that there was more "lavender essential oil" sold 20 years ago than there is now? Even though MORE "lavender essential oil" is being used many times over?

This is due to adulteration of the essential oils with various kinds of nefarious chemicals and additives, among other methods.

Is Your Heart Calm?

I had a dream last night, and I woke up feeling like I should share my special essential oil blend for a Calm Heart with you again, since it's been quite awhile (maybe two years?) and we have many new readers (thank you!).

This special blend is one that has been proven in a clinical study to support lowered blood pressure, and is very helpful for me, students, and clients in terms of reducing and balancing stress levels.

PLUS... it smells amazing. The link below is to my YouTube video for how to make it. And here are a couple of helpful quick notes:

The blend calls for lavender essential oil (Lavandula angustifolia), sweet marjoram essential oil (Origanum majorana), ylang ylang essential oil (Cananga odorata), and neroli essential oil (Citrus aurantium L. ssp amara).

These are all pretty affordable except for the neroli. You can substitute it with petitgrain (Citrus aurantium L.) essential oil if you need to, which is from the same plant and not as expensive. Petitgrain is a distillation of the leaves, while neroli is a distillation of the flowers. It's not quite the same, but it's still a great substitute.

Inspiration and Encouragement

Did you know that studies have shown that about 80% of our daily thoughts (around 50,000 to 80,000 total) are negative?

Wow.

For me, a certified Christian life coach (Life Mentor School) and holistic clinical and certified herbalist/aromatherapist, this is significant and scary. It's one of the reasons I've begun putting stricter boundaries on the kind of information and discussions I allow in my head space.

These negative thoughts really DO have an impact on our physical, emotional, and even (maybe especially) spiritual health.

The common thoughts we have and the verses with them are from Heidi Lee Anderson on Instagram. I thought they were so wonderfully relevant in these times:

You say: "I'm overwhelmed."

God says: "Come to me." Matthew 11:28

***

You say: "I'm too tired."

God says: "I'll give you rest." Matthew 11:29

***

You say: "Nobody cares."

God says: "I care about every detail of your life." Matthew 6:26-30

***

You say: "This feels impossible."

God says: "All things are possible." Matthew 19:26

***

You say: "I'm afraid."

God says: "Fear isn't from Me." 2 Timothy 1:7

I hope you enjoy this bit of hope today and through this coming week!

Also, I want to mention: I realize that not everyone on my email list is a Christian. But my faith literally drives all I do, and how can I not gently talk about it when I know how important it is for everyone to be given a choice about their salvation?

As a holistic practitioner....and that means including spirit....I know how helpful being grounded in faith is for us.

I got a really rude and mean note last week about this section of my Scentsational Sunday letters, and it made me so sad for the lady. She's a pagan, and that is her choice. But she blasted me for sharing my version of positivity and hope in this world. I unsubscribed her from my list. After all, I pay for everyone here, and I certainly don't want to offend people.

You are welcome to unsubscribe if you don't like what I write or the things I share. The link is just below at the bottom.

Most who disagree with my faith just gloss over that part of my note on Sunday and enjoy the rest. Either way, I love you, I'm SO glad you're here, and I encourage you to turn to the Word. Our existence is FAR more than what is here in this world.

Love, and Hugs, Health, and Herbs,

Heidi

P.S. Please forward this note along to a friend! And...do you have my best Fall Diffuser Blends? You can get it here! (Use the same email, and you won't get doubles from me.) Or...click the image below.

September 4th, 2026 Happy Herbal Wednesday, Reader! I hope you had the BEST holiday weekend for Labor Day and are feeling refreshed if you're here in the states. We did some foraging and weeding, and of course spent time in the office/clinic/apothecary. One of the things I got to do was talk with a friend of mine about self-sufficiency for awhile, and I realized a few things from our conversation: 1) People think homesteading is crazy hard. My thoughts: Homesteading IS hard (being a...
